EFFEKT prequalified with C.F. Møller architects to participate in the competition for the design of the new Maritime Academy campus on the harbor front of Svendborg (DK). Manova will join the team as consultants.
The city has a long maritime tradition, hosting various shipyards and shipping companies as well as the SIMAC – Svendborg International Maritime Academy.
The aim of the two-phase competition is to bridge the maritime heritage with the future development and turn the harbor into an active hub of education, housing, business and recreational destination for the local inhabitants.
The first phase will focus on defining the masterplan of the Nordre Kaj area, including urban spaces, traffic facilities and parking. In the second phase, two teams will be appointed to propose a design for the new SIMAC and the surrounding Business park.
Four teams have been invited to take part in the competition, including COBE together with Learning Spaces, Vandkunsten teaming up with Rolvung, Brøndsted Arkitekter and BOGL, and PLH Arkitekter with Praksis Arkitekter and Arkitekt Kristine Jensens Tegnestue.
